  • BIO - Prof. Rainer Amon is a professor in the Dept of Marine and Coastal Environmental Sciences at Texas A&M at Galveston and in the Department of Oceanography at Texas A&M University. Dr. Amon teaches courses in chemical and biological oceanography and his research focuses on the biogeochemistry of organic matter in high latitude watersheds including Siberian rivers, the Arctic Ocean, as well as the Gulf of Mexico including "urban waters" around Houston, Tx. He will present here exciting new research on the use of geochemical information to understand changes in ocean dynamics and physical oceanography in the Gulf of Mexico.
