Hello! I am a senior from Chino Hills California, and will be graduating this spring with an Earth Science and Biology double major. Most of my time in the Penn geomicrobiology lab as a researcher, where I have been studying two CO2 reducing cultures from the anoxic subseafloor of the Juan de Fuca Ridge flank. My favorite class in the Earth Science major was Environmental Case Studies in Iceland, a PGS with Dr. Plante where we wrote a case study on an environmental issue or topic centered in Iceland. I loved being able to learn more about the sustainability efforts Iceland has been making, as well as improving my writing skills through writing my own Case Study on the research efforts being made for extremophiles in high temperature environments.  This semester I am most excited to be taking Geomicrobiology with Dr. Pérez-Rodríguez where we will discuss The types of life that can live in extreme environments and how they help us understand the history of life on Earth.  I am excited to learn more about the background of my own research.
