Hello! I am a senior from New Jersey majoring in Earth Science with a concentration in Environmental Science and a minor in chemistry. One of my favorite classes so far has been ENVS 1665, “Air Pollution: Sources & Effects in Urban Environments,” taught by Professor Maria Antonia Andrews. Since this seminar is an academically-based curriculum service (ABCS) course, students have the opportunity to engage in hands-on, real-world problem solving through local projects in the West Philadelphia community and beyond! My most memorable experience in sustainability was completing a project under the New York Academy of Science that investigated the use of silver nanoparticles to enhance recycled plastic materials as an innovative solution to the issue of global plastic pollution.
